Meet the Veterinarians & Staff of Clairmont Animal Hospital

Dr. Mike Smith

Dr. Mike Smith founded Clairmont Animal Hospital in August 1990. He is a graduate of Tulane University and the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Smith has spent 31 years practicing veterinary medicine in Florida and Georgia, and his special areas of interest include soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, internal medicine, ultrasound, oncology, urology, laser surgery, and most recently rigid endoscopic (minimally invasive) surgery. Dr. Smith is credentialed in TTA surgery, ALPS minimally invasive bone plating, and Adipose Derived Stem Cell Therapy. In his leisure time, he enjoys water sports, camping, reading, woodworking, and spending time with his wife and daughter. He has two cats, two dogs (a black lab and a shih tzu), and numerous other pets.

Dr. George Parlavantzas

Dr. George Parlavantzas was born in the United States and raised in Cyprus. He is a graduate of Georgia Tech and the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Parlavantzas practiced in an exclusive feline practice prior to joining our hospital. His areas of special interest are general medicine and surgery, feline practice, radiology, and dentistry. Dr. Parlavantzas has one pit bull, Gemini.

Dr. Hiro Iwamoto

Dr. Hiro Iwamoto is an Atlanta native. He graduated from Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina, and later obtained his DVM from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Hiro was a long-time client of our animal hospital before obtaining his doctorate. He first joined the staff as a veterinary technician and after graduating from UGA, he rejoined the staff at Clairmont as a veterinarian. His personal interests include vintage automobile restoration and playing the banjo. Dr. Hiro and Dr. Hochel have two wonderful dogs and two semi-sweet cats.

Dr. Robin Hochel

Dr. Robin Hochel is originally from Aiken, South Carolina. She graduated from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Her special areas of interest include internal medicine, dermatology, dentistry, and oncology. Dr. Hochel’s personal interests include reading, swimming, and gardening. She is married to Dr. Hiro, and they have a daughter named Emi.

Dr. Kelly Bradley

Dr. Kelly Bradley was born and raised in Manhattan, Kansas, and she graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Bradley completed a small animal internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York City. She then stayed another year in New York, where she worked at Fifth Avenue Veterinary Specialists. Before joining Clairmont Animal Hospital in 2007, Dr. Bradley worked in emergency medicine at Cobb and Cherokee Emergency Clinics. Her professional interests include internal medicine, emergency medicine, and soft tissue surgery. Outside of work, Dr. Bradley enjoys exercising, cooking, and traveling. She and her husband, Dustin, have two little girls, a grey tabby cat named Daisy and rescue terrier named Lucy.

Dr. Lauren Adams

Dr. Lauren Adams is originally from a small town in south Alabama. She is a graduate of Auburn Univeristy’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Adams’ areas of interest include dentistry, dermatology, oncology, internal medicine, and soft tissue surgery. She often works with the Humane Society of the United States, traveling to underserved rural areas around the globe, providing essential animal health services, such as sterilizations and vaccinations, as well as educational programs on a variety of topics including disease prevention and humane animal care. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, gardening, and traveling. She has three dogs, one cat, and two backyard chickens.

Dr. Frank Romano

Dr. Frank Romano was born and raised in New Jersey. He is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and the Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, where he enjoyed serving in various leadership roles. Dr. Romano joined Clairmont Animal Hospital after completing a rotating internship in emergency and specialty medicine at BluePearl Veterinary Partners in Atlanta. Dr. Romano enjoys all areas of small animal veterinary medicine and is committed to continual learning of state-of-the-art medical practices and procedures. Away from work, he enjoys cooking, sports, being outdoors with his goldendoodle, and traveling.
